Installing Plugins

Aardvark comes with two types of plugins, required and included. Required plugins must be installed and activated at all times for the theme to work properly. Included plugins are premium plugins that are bundled with the theme and do not require additional licensing in order to use them. Recommend and compatible plugins are also explained below.

Required and Included Plugins

Go to Aardvark > Theme Setup > Plugins and install and activate all the required plugins. The following plugins are required:

  • Aardvark Plugin – Comes with essential features for the Aardvark theme
  • WPBakery Page Builder – Frontend and backend drag and drop page builder to create complex looking layouts in minutes – no coding required
  • Responsive for WPBakery Page Builder – Greater control over the display of your page builder elements based on the width of the screen

Optional and Included Plugins

The Aardvark Setup page also shows a number of included plugins that are included with the theme. Go to Aardvark > Theme Setup > Plugins and install and activate only the included plugins you need. The following plugins are included:

  • LayerSlider– One of the most popular responsive multi-purpose slider plugins
  • Sensei Certificates – Award students with a certificate on completion for their courses (requires Sensei plugin)
  • Theia Sticky Sidebar – Makes your sidebars sticky and permanently visible, regardless of their position or how much the user has scrolled down
  • Ultimate Reviewer WordPress Plugin For WPBakery Page Builder – Turn any theme into a full review site. Create your own review templates, allow users to add ratings, submit ratings via the comment form, add reviews to comparison tables. No coding knowledge required
  • Youzer – BuddyPress community and WordPress user profile plugin

Optional Plugins

The Aardvark Setup page also shows a number of optional plugins that have been designed to work with the theme and are used in some of the theme demos.

These plugins are all free and not included with the theme, however the theme allows you to install them automatically via the demo importer. If you discover any issues with these plugins first see if it occurs with another theme activated, if it does, it’s not an issue with this theme and you should contact the developer of the respective plugin about this issue.

  • bbPress – Add a fully functioning forum to your website
  • BP Profile Search – Build custom members search forms, and custom members directories or search results pages, comes with custom shortcode
  • BuddyPress – Build a community website with member profiles, activity streams, user groups, messaging etc
  • BuddyPress Xprofile Custom Fields Type – Adds additional field types to the BuddyPress profile
  • Events Manager – Create events, handle bookings with full BuddyPress integration
  • Paid Membership Pro – Create membership levels, restrict access based on these levels, charge for access, different homepages for different membership levels
  • Paid Membership Pro – BuddyPress Add On – Manage access to BuddyPress content using the Paid Membership Pro plugin
  • rtMedia – Upload media to the activity stream or profile, comment and like media from other users, categorize media into albums
  • Sensei – A course management plugin that offers the smoothest platform for helping you teach anything (purchased separately)
  • WooCommerce – Create an online store with the most popular ecommerce plugin
  • WordPress Popular Posts – Displays the most popular posts
  • WP Live Chat Support – Adds a live chat interface to your site
